Rosemary Tyrrell

Rosemary Tyrrell, Ed. D. director of faculty development, is an experienced educator with dynamic background combining education, leadership and resource development.

Prior to joining the UCR SOM, she worked with the ITS team at the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts for Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA where she developed professional development materials and training to support a move to a new learning management system. She taught both face-to-face and online courses at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising for 18 years where she also served as an instructional specialist for 14 years and the e-learning instructional specialist for four years where she developed a fully online new faculty orientation course for online educators.

Rosemary received her Doctor of Education at UCLA in 2015. Her primary research focus is in the area of faculty professional development in higher education with a particular interest in needs assessment and evaluation. Her dissertation was entitled: Exploring the Needs and Perceptions of Online Faculty towards Faculty Professional Development: A Qualitative Study.

Kay Monteith, M.B.M. is an Instructional Designer for the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine (SOM). She is currently working for the Office of Faculty Development creating and developing courses, curriculum, training materials, and collaborating with faculty to ensure course content is communicated clearly and succinctly.

Kay previously held the position of Associate Director of Educational Instruction for the SOM. During her tenure as Associate Director, she was responsible for the scheduling of didactic lectures, the creation of weekly assessments and final exams, faculty appointments and various other duties involving the education of the first and second-year medical students.

Earning her undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin, and her Master’s degree in Business Management from Azusa Pacific University, after several years of teaching, Kay went on to become the principal of a K-6 elementary school in Rancho Cucamonga. Her husband and four children ranging in age from 16-22 keep her busy outside of work.


Ana Garcia, MHSA

Ana Garcia

Ana Garcia is the development analyst at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine. She is responsible for preforming data entry, tracking office expenses and budgets, and assisting in logistical support for workshops.

Garcia first came to UC Riverside School of Medicine as a student intern, where she audited for revenue cycle and furthered her experience in faculty development.

Garcia began her career in health science with a concentration in healthcare management in 2012. Once undergraduate degree was earned, she sought to pursue a higher education. Garcia then obtained her Masters of Science in Health Services Administration from the California State University of San Bernardino.

Garcia is a member of the Medical Group Association and Eta Sigma Gamma, Health Science Honor Society.
